Just started listening and it sounds pretty good. The circulating versions of this show are not great quality. Perhaps for at least this part it is an improvement.

DS>StSt.>11 jam, TIFTOO>CPW

Gans says this one was by request. Cliff? Tell?

Yes, Larry, I am the culprit.

I got really tired of all that late 80's dogshit stuff that has been up at the GD Hour over the last few weeks, so I tried to pick something that would be a significant upgrade over what was available from 1968! Hope you enjoy my pick!

Now you guys should have come sharking today! Naturally scored a nice Mako...

Cool - My kid's Ballet instructor got a 202 lb Bigeye last week - had some nice Tuna steaks the other night. Would have been better if they had bled & iced it right away - oh well beggars can't be choosers.

JOTS,

Ahi is Yellowfin Tuna.

Bigeye is called Mebachi. Generally the meat has a higher fat/oil content than Ahi. I agree that it is fantastic seared, but even better as sashimi if it is handled and cared for properly...

Thanks for the clarification Cliff. Agree on the Sashimi. Why do some of the finer restaurants call it Ahi but it looks nothing like the yellowfin you get at the store? Also, I've seen the good purple/red big eye roasts ( that they carve into steaks ) at the store and I'm pretty sure they called it Ahi. I'm not doubting you at all Cliff I'm just wondering if you think maybe they let the term be mis used do you think? Regardless, we're talking about the same fish and it sure is good.

The Hawaiians refer to both Bigeye and Yellowin as Ahi. However, in Japan, and to sushi purists, they are completely different.

Bluefin, is of course known as Maguro. It may be listed as an endangered species in the future.

And this banter is making me crazy for toro...

Nice fish! I would have loved to have gone today. I usually don't make up to LI until the fall although i am not sure I will go this year. Trying to limit the travel while the family is settling in to the new digs.

Yes I enjoyed it the GDH selection. No cuts in any of the songs which was nice and i did not notice a bad hiss although i was listening at work and did not have it cranked. Your thoughts on the sound quality?

sound quality on the one I have is pretty darn good minus the cuts biz...are you saying they don't "stop" in the middle of the 11 or that DDHNM is complete? I take that back--they DO stop in the 11 due to their own stage related problems, so that is NOT coming back...damn...I assumed those other cuts were inherent to the show...think I have a Miller on this one. Will check if you like.

Not me...aside from the techno difficulties, a great show.

Listen to what Jerry does with some of the solos in TIFTOO.

TC, I assume, is integrating nicely at this point, and as noted by LiA, it's not always easy to hear him, but you can here!

Again, knowing he came on board in Nov or so, not sure if he completely takes over keyboards from the get go or not...

I was just listening to 1/2/70, and it's like it's the TC show! You can hear him really well (and he's playing well too, which makes me think he can hear himself as well [for a change].)

I think both 12/30/69 and 1/2/70 are great shows. The NYE show in between isn't as much fun, though, because in order to hear their harmony vocals, the boys play almost every song as quietly as possible... so everything seems a bit subdued... on NYE?!?!? oh well, those other two shows rock aplenty. :D

How can ya NOT love the dark star from 1/2/70? Fabulous stuff. And I've always liked the weird spookiness of the less expansive dark star from the 12/7 show. Great New Potato on that one too.

Yeah! The Dark Star on 12/30/69 would be my all-time favorite DS... except that the last section is brutally hacked off (along with what was probably a smoking Alligator, too)... D:
